Larry Richard Shaeffer, 65, of New Holland died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his residence. His death was sudden and unexpected.
Larry was born February 17, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio to Calvin H. and Marian Speakman Shaeffer. He was a 1966 graduate of Miami Trace High School, attended Ohio University and graduated from Franklin University with a degree in business. He lived most of his life in the New Holland community.
Before his retirement, he worked in the business office at the Ross Correctional Institute.
Larry was an active member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and loved football, particularly Miami Trace and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2010 and his father in 1973.
Larry is survived by a daughter, Alexandra Shaeffer of Mason; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Eric Havens of Washington Court House; a niece, Angie Murphy of Washington Court House; two great nephews, Shawn Murphy, Jr. and Kyle Murphy; a great niece, Gracie Moore; the mother of his daughter, Kris Williams, of Lexington, KY; three aunts, Judith Speakman of Washington Court House, Betty Shaeffer and Leona Shaeffer, both of Circleville and several cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Atlanta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Malcolm Buck, pastor at the church, officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Friends may call at the church from noon Wednesday until time of the service.
