Marilyn Havens, age 76, of Washington Court House, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Fayette County Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.
She was born on January 21, 1937 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to John Leroy McLaughlin and Helen Tate McLaughlin.
Marilyn was a devoted and loyal homemaker who took wonderful care of her husband, 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was also employed at Court House Manor until 1989. She enjoyed reading her daily newspaper with a cup of coffee at her kitchen table, watching a variety of sports and television shows and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mona Lou Farler, brother Elroy Lynn McLaughlin and her husband of 55 years, Vernon Havens in 2008.
She is survived by her children Stephen (Deborah) Havens, Vernon Lee Havens II, Victoria Havens, Christine Havens, and Tammy (David) Ruth; grandchildren Rachel (Mike) Burgess, Brandi (Jason) Funderburg, Benjamin (Melissa) Havens, Tyler Ruth, Ashley Ruth, and Charles Holden Ball; great-grandchildren Levi, Gabrielle, Maizy, Mitchell, Margo, Hunter, River and Jaycee. She is also survived by sisters Shirley Payne, Jean Keller, and Virginia Richmond and brother William (Carolyn) McLaughlin, as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Words simply cannot express our gratitude for the excellent care she received from all of her Fayette County Memorial Hospital “family” during her stay from October 7, 2013 until she passed away.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Washington Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
