Benjamin C. "Ben" Mercer

Benjamin C. "Ben" Mercer, 61, Sabina died at his home on Thursday 
March 14, 2013.  He was born on January 3, 1952 the son of the late 
Frank and Avonelle Hedrick Mercer.  He graduated from East Clinton 
High School in 1970. Former member of Sabina Fire Department, he was 
an accomplished pianist and keyboard player.  He was the owner manager 
of the West Side Carryout, the Frostie Drive Inn and lounge and the 
Mercer Hartley Building.  His contributions to the Sabina community 
have been numerous.  He was a member of the Sabina United Methodist 
Church, Washington and Clinton County Shrine Clubs, member of the 
Scottish Rite, the Washington Elks 129, the Sabina Moose Lodge, Past 
Master of the Fayette Masonic Lodge 107 and the Sabina Masonic Lodge 
324.
  He is survived by his wife Peggy and children Jeremy  Henson, Chad 
Henson, Lindsey (Jonathon) Pitzer, grandchildren Wes, Haley, Hannah 
and Ethan Henson, Lauren Pitzer, Phillip Curtis Pitzer, Nolan Pitzer 
and Sam Henson and his sister Ella Mae Tucker.
  Friends may call at the Mercer Hartley Building on Monday from 5 
until 7PM. The funeral will follow the Masonic service at 7PM with 
burial in the Sabina Cemetery.  Littleton Funeral Home is in charge of 
arrangements.  Contributions may be made to the Sabina Pool Fund, c/o 
Nancy Cornell 99 N. Howard St. Sabina.
