L. Frances “Fran” Markel, 84, passed away at Fayette County Memorial Hospital, Washington Court House on Monday, March 11, 2013. She was born November 15, 1928 to the late M.H. and Verna May Cay Meredith in Fredricktown, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Markel II.
Mrs. Markel was a graduate of Fredricktown High School and a graduate of the Wooster Business School. She retired from Mac Tools of Washington Court House, had been a volunteer at Fayette County Memorial Hospital, was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebekah Circle of Grace United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Bernadine Orcutt.
Fran is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Mike) Devine of Phoenix Arizona, a nephew, Rick Orcutt of Norfolk Virginia, cousins Carolyn Wheeler of California and Marilyn Lowe of Washington, special friends Midge McKinley of Columbus, Sheri Siniff of Washington Court House, a host of Grace Church friends and the loving & caring staff of Court House Manor.
A graveside service will be held at the Forest Cemetery in Fredricktown on Friday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Grace United Methodist Church Visitation Director, Mell Wickensimer officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Morrow Funeral Home in Washington C.H., Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Humane Society (153 S. Main St. Suite 3, Washington CH, Ohio 43160), Court House Manor Nursing Home Activity Fund (555 N. Glenn Avenue, Washington CH, Ohio 43160) or Grace United Methodist Church (301 E. Market Street, Washington CH, Ohio 43160).
