Ruth Thornberry, 74, of Washington C.H., formerly of Jeffersonville, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
She was born October 30, 1938 to the late Charles and Ivy McDaniel Young in Jeffersonville, Ohio. She served as Clerk of Jefferson Township for 25 years and retired in 2003. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church and Eastern Star Chapter #300.
In addition to her parents, she Ruth was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosa Lee Long, Anna Lee Alkire, Nancy Louise Brill and a sister in law, Thelma Young, two brothers, Charles Young, Jr., and Carey Wayne Young, three brothers in law, Marvin Brill, Carl W. Thornberry and Dale Long.
Mrs. Thornberry is survived by her devoted husband, Richard and their loving daughter, Susan Thornberry at home, two sisters, Carolyn (Vernie) Wise of Jeffersonville and Sharon (John) Dupre of Dayton, and a brother, Michael (Susan) Young of Mainsville, Ohio, a brother in law, Bob Thornberry, of Wilmington, and a sister in law, Brenda Thornberry of Springfield, her aunt, Mildred Williams of London, Ohio, a sister in law, Connie (Dick) Ballou of Liberty Township, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth is also survived by special friends: Patty Evans, Susie Mayer and Doug Sowders.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Crossroads Christian Church at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Todd Maurer officiating. Friends may call at the Crossroads Christian Church on Friday March 8, from 2:00 p.m until the time of the service. Burial will be Saturday at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
