JAMES P. WASHBURN, age 85, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 9:36 p.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on August 23, 1927 in Rainsboro, Ohio to Fay and Carrie Easter Washburn. He had retired from Western-Union of Columbus as a supervisor, also had worked at C&J Automotive for many years. He enjoyed racing stock cars and had a love and passion for Buicks.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during WWII where he had received the Army of Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #25 where he had served as Post Commander and a life member of the VFW Burnett-Ducey Post #4964.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Margaret E. Rapp (Ware) Washburn, whom he married on August 8, 1972; children Debbie Hart, Teresa (Bob) Beam both of Xenia, Sharma (Bob) Ewing of Wilmington, Karen Sue Binegar of Washington CH and Mary Ann (Bob) Coe of Jeffersonville; grandchildren Jill (Eric) Green, Jeff (Tina) Runnels, Monty (Jen) Coe, Doug Coe, Jennifer Little, Bill Bishop, Beau Binegar, Cody Hart, Lucas Hart and Jessica Hall; 18 great-grandchildren as well as six great-great-grandchildren; siblings Fay Jr. (Geneva) Washburn, Eleanor Priest, Ann (Merrill) Koffman and Bonnie (Richard) Benson as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor John Pfeifer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
