Nellie L. Hardman
Nellie L. Hardman, 90, of Washington C.H., passed away at the Court House Manor Nursing Home in Washington C.H on Monday, February 25, 2013 where she had been a patient since February 20, 2013 battling pneumonia. She was born December 9, 1922 to Samuel Marcus and Bertha McCullough Lower. She graduated from Jeffersonville High School Class of 1940. Nellie married Virgil Hardman June 24, 1941 and were married 69 years when Virgil passed in December 2010. They adopted Penny Sue in 1951 and she survives. She was also preceded by her sister Lena Hill and brothers; Bob, Bill and Sam Lower and a son in law, Glen 'Bud' Johnson in June 2011.
Nellie and Virgil also raised her half brother Fred 'Bud' McNeal from Greenfield who is deceased along with half sisters; Betty Seymour, Catherine Merriman and half brother Tom McNeal. She is also survived by a half sister, Mildred McKinney and a half brother, Harold McNeal and two sisters in law; Wilma Coe of South Webster, Ohio and Lynn Lower of Dallas, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by special friends; Marlyn and Joanne Smith, Bugs and Mel Ramsey, Gary and Tina Rayburn, Lynda Johnson and her Euchre Club Friends.
Nellie worked at the Greenfield Shoe Factory in the early 1960's and at the Fayette County Recorder's Office from 1965 until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the Good Hope Methodist Church, Eastern Star chapter #300 in Jeffersonville and a former 4-H Advisor.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 a.m at the Morrow Funeral Home in Washington C.H with Pastor Jon Cook and Jim Kiger officiating. Friends may call at the Morrow Funeral Home in Washington C.H. From 4-8 p.m on Friday, March 1 with an Eastern Star Service at 8:00 p.m..Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
