Ludene Rife

Ludene Rife, 101, of Washington Court House died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:40 p.m. at the Country Glenn Nursing and Therapy Center where she had been residing since Dec. 29, 2009.

Mrs. Rife was born January 21, 1912 in Fayette County, Ohio to George W. and Nelle Vincent Darlington.  She lived most of her life in Fayette Co.

She was a member of the Staunton United Methodist Church; the Fayette County Commission on Aging and the Greenfield Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was former longtime volunteer with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Rife was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Donald Rife on June 24, 1977; by a brother, George W. Darlington, Jr. in 1995; a sister, Gretchen R. Witherspoon in 2007 and a son-in-law, Clarence Smallridge in 1986.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Edna Mae Rife of Washington C.H.; a daughter, Donna Lou Smallridge of New Vienna; six grandchildren, Mark Rife and his wife, Karin, of Washington Court House, Anita Grissom and her husband, Joey, of Concord, NC, Michael Rife and Trina Eddy of Washington Court House, Sarah Miller and her husband, Myron, of Madison Mills, Marsha King and Donald Smallridge and his wife, Jenny, all of New Vienna; 13 great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Darlington of West Jefferson and Elizabeth Craig of East Moline, IL.

The funeral will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. with John Pfeiffer, pastor at the Gathering Place Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from noon until the time of the service.
