Alta B. (Dolly) Brown

 

Alta B. (Dolly) Brown, 94, of Washington Court House died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at 3:35 a.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been a patient since January 28.

Dolly was born February 15, 1918, in Pickaway County, Ohio near Kingston to John Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Merriman Roll.  She moved to New Holland when she was 21 and lived there until moving to Washington Court House in 2000.

She attended the New Holland United Methodist Church; was a poll worker for many years; had been a member of the New Holland Lioness Club and was a member of the Fayette County Commission on Aging.  She was a sports enthusiast and loved dancing.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Brown on May 1, 1995; by a brother, Clifford (Doc) Roll and a sister-in-law, Leona Ours.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Overly of Washington Court House; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

     The funeral will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with the Rev. Dr. Michael B. Thompson, pastor at the New Holland United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.

     Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
