FREDERICK “FRED” D. VANZANT, age 53, of Huber Heights, formerly of
Xenia, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Dayton Hospice
House.
He was born April 16, 1959 in Dayton to Frederick B. “Ted” and Dorthea “Dot” Cherpeski VanZant, both deceased. He had worked as a machinist at Wren Machine Company of Tipp City. He was a US Army veteran and a 1977 graduate of Xenia High School. He enjoyed NASCAR, had passion for working on race cars with his father and enjoyed all types of sports.
Fred is survived by his wife Cathy Pence VanZant, whom he married on October 15, 2005; his children John VanZant and Jamie Davis; his extended family Mitzi, Marsha Lee, Brian and Becky as well as several grandchildren; siblings Phyllis, Doris (Dan), Kim (Gary) and mother-in-law Janet Hawkins; several nieces, nephews and his beloved labs, Maggie and Tyson.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Father Jimmy Hatfield of the St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church officiating, with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
