Ardath Sanderson Moorman, 66 passed away Tuesday January 22, 2013 at her home on the lake in Jeffersonville, Ohio, surrounded by her friends and family. She was born September 30, 1946 to the late Neil Sanderson and Thelma Daniel Sanderson of Washington C. H.
A lifelong resident of the area, she and her husband owned Mooracre Lake, and built it into a place for families to come to fish and play. Also, there, they provided a sanctuary to care for wounded wildlife. Her deep love for animals guided her life, and she never turned away any creature or person with a need.
Among her accomplishments, she was the first female deputy sheriff in Clinton County and over the years, she held the title to several Clinton County trap shooting championships. She was an advocate for human rights and equality and an accomplished business woman.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry, their family: Randy and Cherrie Nichols, Tim and Maria Moorman, Mike Moorman, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her aunts Wilma Reed and Donna Talmage, her mother Thelma Sanderson, her sister Yvonne Sanderson Ferris, her husband Tom, along with their children, Kerry Simpson, Anne Cook (Michael), Wesley Ferris (Ashley), 5 great nieces and nephews, and numerous friends who were extended family.
She had a good and loving heart and will be truly missed. Private family services will be held at a later date.
