Betty Jane Sherman Bower, 86, Washington Court House, died naturally and peacefully at home on January 10, 2013 surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 20, 1926 in Madison Mills, Ohio the daughter of the late A.M. and Carol Heath Sherman.  She graduated from Madison Mills High in 1944.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Leesburg, VFW 3762 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion #25 Ladies Auxiliary  and Widow of an Elk #129, WCH. She is a retired farm wife.  She married Clyde R. Bower on July 3, 1945.  He preceded on December 19, 2002.  She is survived by her daughter Dianna (Pat) Hurles, Washington CH, grandson William J. (Emily) Bower, Washington CH and two great grandchildren Ethan Dennis and Emma Jayne, sisters in law Jayne Garber, Sabina and Carrie Edwards, WCH, Helen Rupp, Maryland, Ethel  (Ed)Boone, North Carolina and Mary Sherman, Kettering.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her son Dennis R. Bower and brothers Harold E. Sherman and Emerson Sherman and sister Fontabelle Harris.    The celebration of life and gathering of friends will be held on Saturday January 19, 2013 at the Staunton Fellowship Hall, Staunton from 1 to 4PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Fayette County, PO Box 849, Washington CH, 43160. Cremation was requested and burial will be at the convenience of family.
