George E. Bender, 78 of Sabina, died on Monday morning, January 7, 2013 at Autumn Years Nursing Center, Sabina.

Born April 7, 1934 in Stockdale, PA the son of George and Mary Jaso Bender.  He is survived by his wife, Gloria Johnson Bender whom he married October 11, 1991. George had retired from the banking industry and in retirement had worked at the IGA in Sabina. He loved the outdoors, especially his landscaping and flowers.  He enjoyed the men’s bible study group at the Church of Christ.  He also enjoyed announcing East Clinton football games for several years. He was a member of the Sabina Church of Christ and the Sabina Lions Club.  Served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He is also survived by his children, Mary Lyons of Concho, AZ; Joan Hayes of Nashville, IN; R.G. Bender of Middletown; Cindy Moir of Lafayette, CO; Tanya Schilling of Springfield, OH and Mike Miller of Lynchburg.  13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Sisters Emily Ciccarelli of Latrobe, PA. and Mary Ann Peligreen of Detroit.  And proceeded in death by a sister Margaret Scott.

Funeral service will be on 1:00 PM Saturday at the Sabina Church of Christ. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 to 1:00 PM at the church.

Burial will be in the Sabina Cemetery.  Littleton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
