JOHN H. TUBBS, age 78, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 6:22 p.m. shortly after arrival at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born on March 13, 1934 in Pomeroy, Ohio to Henry and Mildred Martin Tubbs. He had retired from the General Casting Foundry. He was a graduate of Pomeroy High School. He enjoyed bowling, softball, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and listening to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio. He was in charge of the Little League Program and Concessions in Mt. Vernon for many years. He loved spending time his grandchildren and was known as a hard worker and good provider for his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie Jean “Maw” Smith Tubbs on October 2, 2012 and his brother, Bill Tubbs.
Survivors include his children John (Janice) Tubbs, Vickie (Mike) McAllister, Mark Walter (Joyce) Tubbs, Sherry (Bill) Wilcox, Mildred Tubbs and Penny Tubbs; grandchildren Scott McAllister, Gretchen Barota, Sarah Tubbs, Melissa Tubbs, Jeremy Wilcox, Shannon Tubbs, Brandi Wilcox, Chad Sanderson, Ben Tubbs, Christopher Tubbs, Amanda Tubbs and Courtney Tubbs; great-grandchildren Kayla and Colin McAllister and Blake Barota as well as cousins Mina Mae Gorby and Nettie Barnhart.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
