Bettie J. Gordon

Bettie J. Gordon, 90, of New Holland, lovingly known as “Aunt Bettie,” died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 6:05 a.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Tuesday.

Bettie was born August 6, 1922 in Greene County, Ohio to Charles Isaac and Anna Marie Hartsock Rudduck.  She had formerly lived in Springfield, Ohio but spent most of her life in New Holland.

She was the original owner and operator of the White Cottage Restaurant in New Holland where she was famous for her fried chicken.  She had formerly been a cashier at the restaurant in Wren’s Department Store in Springfield and before her retirement, was a long time employee of the General Electric Lamp Plant in Circleville.

Bettie was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ and had been a member of the New Holland Lioness Club.  She enjoyed cooking and playing cards but her greatest love in life was her family.  She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell E. Garrison in 1954 and E.L. (Joe) Gordon in 1982; a son, William Wayne Garrison in 2003; three brothers, Charles (Bud) Rudduck, Wayne Rudduck and William Rudduck and his wife, Ruth Ellen, and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and A. W. Kirkpatrick, Jr.

Bettie is survived a daughter-in-law, Dinah (Judy) Garrison of Florida; a granddaughter, Becky Pitakos and her husband, Bob, of Washington Court House and two great grandsons, Christopher Pitakos of Louisville, KY and Nicholas Pitakos, of Washington Court House; two sisters-in-law, Betty Rudduck of Washington Court House and Helen Rudduck of Sabina and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with Richard Matthews, minister at the New Holland Church of Christ, and Victor Slutz, former church minister of the church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
