Mary Frances (Johnson) Fowler

On December 5, 2012 Mary Frances (Johnson) Fowler, age 87 years, 10 
months, 3 days, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and family 
and friends that have gone on before.  She was a resident of Liberty 
Nursing Center of Jamestown.  Mary was the daughter of Leslie Earl and 
Goldie Mae (Faulkner) Johnson.  She was born February 2, 1925 in 
Wilmington, Clinton County Ohio but spent her adult years in the 
Jamestown area.  Mary was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, 
mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.  
She loved her family more than anything on this earth and loved to 
cook and bake for them and anyone who came to their home. She also 
loved to cook and baked for events at her church and at her children’s 
schools.  She was also a devoted neighbor and friend to many in this 
community that she grew to love.
She attend Port William School from 1931 thru 1941 when her family 
moved to Sabina.  She graduated from Sabina High School Class of 1943. 
  During high school she played trumpet with the schools marching band 
and violin in the school orchestra.  She worked part time at Foster’s 
Dept. Store.  After her graduation she worked fulltime at Dabe’s 
Implement as a Bookkeeper.  On September 21, 1944 she married Delbert 
Leroy Fowler and they moved to Jamestown on Rogers Rd.  After two more 
moves they settled on a farm on Watkins Rd. Jamestown.  She lived 
there until 2010.  She toiled by her husband’s side in the fields 
while raising three children and countless chickens every year.  She 
was an active member and past President of the Ross Township School 
PTA, past member of the Multi Flora Garden Club, present member of the 
Port William-Lumberton Senior Citizens and present member of the 
Jamestown United Methodist Church where she has been a member since 
February 16, 1953.
Besides her husband who passed away June 24, 1995 and her parents she 
was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Nathaniel Fowler, 
Brothers Frank William Johnson and Earl Lloyd “Pete” Johnson, her 
father and mother in law Fred and Beula (Hoover) Fowler, four brothers 
in law, William, Clarence, Harold and Franklin Fowler and four sisters 
in law, Janet Fowler, Mary Esther Fowler, Pauline Fowler, and Evelyn 
Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Fowler, Roger (Susan) Fowler 
and Tom (Rene) Fowler all of Jamestown.  Eight grandchildren, Pam 
(Mark) Gibson, Cheryl (Mark) Earle, Douglas Heinz, Angela Fowler, 
Christine Neville, Natalie Fowler (Robert Batchelor), Neil Fowler 
(Leah Coffman), Nicholas Fowler.  Eight great grandchildren, Kelly 
Gibson, Morgan Gibson, Jimmy Sweet Jr. Jonathan Sweet, Megan (Clint)  
Adams Victoria (Nick) Williamson, Tiffany Neville and Cheyenne Fowler. 
  Eight great great grandchildren, Conner, Ryleigh and Jonathan 
Trogdon, Danika Neville, Hannah and Cheyenne Adams, twin boys, Dominic 
and Luca Williamson. Two sisters in laws, Virginia “Ginny” Fowler and 
Ruth Folwer.  As well as many nieces and nephews, great and great great.
Graveside service will be on Saturday December 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. 
at the Silvercreek Township Cemetery, Jamestown.  Mary was never one 
to waste or be frivolous with anything and always enjoyed giving a 
helping hand.  And it was her wish that in these tough economic times, 
in lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts be made in her name to the 
Jamestown United Methodist Church, 22 E. Washington St. Jamestown, OH
