Earl Eugene Haggard, 98, a resident of the Court House Manor Nursing Home for the past two years, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8:40 p.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
Mr. Haggard was born August 26, 1914 in Fayette County, Ohio to Harley and Lelah Harvey Haggard and was a lifelong resident of this community.
Before his retirement he was a parcel post carrier for the U.S. Postal Service at the Washington C.H. Post Office.
He was a member of the South Side Church of Christ and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Haggard was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, the former Mildred Belle Flee, on February 9, 2012; a son-in-law, Otho Clawson; three brothers, Carl, Robert and Donald Haggard and a sister, Norma Haggard.
He is survived by four children, Lelah Campbell of Washington C.H., Evelyn (Sue) Clawson of Joplin, MO; Carolyn Ruth and her husband, Wesley, and James Haggard and his wife, Charla , all of Washington C.H.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and close friends, Pam and Larry Cook of Washington Court House.
The funeral will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Danny Dodds, minister at the Greenfield Church of Christ and Todd Maurer, minister at Crossroads Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
