Cash Mobs go viral online after first takes place in Cleveland.
First there were flash mobs. Now a new concept born in Ohio is spreading world-wide in an effort to boost business at locally-owned stores. They're known as Cash Mobs - gatherings of people that descend on a store and spend money there.
Co-founder Andrew Samtoy says it's not about saving struggling businesses, but rather raising awareness that you don't have to shop at big chain stores. Samtoy's first cash mob was in Cleveland around Thanksgiving. Since then he's listed nearly 80 other locations- including Hillsboro- where cash mobs are taking place.
