Through the program, millions of dollars more are possible as the program is fully implemented.
The Adena Health System will receive over a million dollars in federal funds for its use of electronic health records. Sybil Miller, with Adena, says the EHR program is designed to improve patient services.
To qualify, Adena and its physicians had to show they were using the new technology in a "meaningful manner." The Federal Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved the first phase of funding.
The entire project has a potential value of over $15 million to the health system over the next four to five years.
