Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says their investigation has changed how they believe the crash occurred.

New developments have come to light in the crash that killed a Washington CH teen last Sunday.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff, the original report of Jacob Curtain driving the car was false.

Members of the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit say it is apparent that physical evidence in the car was inconsistent with the injuries received by 19-year-old Jacob Curtain and reported front seat passenger 19-year-old Shyanne (Shy ann) Huffman.

Authorities now have confirmed that Huffman was the driver of the car at the time of the crash and that Curtain was the front seat passenger.

Only Curtain and Huffman were wearing seat belts at the time but were able to crawl out of the car before the first deputy arrived on the scene. 18-year-old Cody Penwell and 16-year-old Brianna Shiltz, the rear passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected during the rollover of the car.

Huffman who is not a licensed driver has been released from the hospital in Dayton but Curtain and Shilts are still hospitalized.

Penwell was pronounced dead at Fayette County Memorial Hospital the night of the crash.

The Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit are still investigating the cause of the crash citing speed as a probable factor.
