Stolen Vehicle was involved in the crash
The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a four vehicle injury crash that occured Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at 12:09 a.m. on US 22, at Wilson Road in Union Township, Clinton County.
A 2000 GMC pick-up truck driven by Preston Bowman, age 19 of Washington Court House was traveling westbound on US 22 at a high rate of speed. A 1995 Jeep Cherokee driven by Patricia Sims, age 62 of Sabina attempted to pass traffic that was stopped on US 22 eastbound, drove left of center and struck Bowman's vehicle.
Bowman continued westbound after the initial crash, and struck two more vehicles that were stopped in traffic.
The drivers of the two vehicles were William Hunter, Jr., age 46 of Jeffersonville, and Cheryl Crouch, age 47 of Sabina, were transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital via Wilmington Life squad for non-life-threatening injuries. They both sustained no injuries in the crash.
The 2000 GMC 1500 that Bowman was driving was stolen in Washington Court House sometime on Dec. 23, 2011. Officers from Washington Court House Police Department had attempted to stop the vehicle in Fayette County, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued into Clinton County on US 22 to the location of this crash.
Bowman was arrested for OVI, Fleeing and Eluding, and Receiving Stolen Property. None of the other three drivers had been consuming alcohol prior to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
