Eddie Kirkpatrick Dies

The long-time businessman died Sunday at age 95.

A long-time businessman in the region has died at the age of 95.
Edward C. Kirkpatrick of Washington Court House died Sunday afternoon at the Court House Manor Nursing Home where he had been a patient since November 15.

He was the founder and owner of Kirk's Furniture in Washington C.H.; the owner of Kirk’s Auto Parts in Washington C.H., Greenfield and Mount Sterling and was a licensed funeral director.

Eddie was a former longtime member of the Fayette County Fair Board and also served many years on the Ohio State Fair Board and the Ohio Fair Manager's Association. He was inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Ohio Fair Manager's Hall of Fame in 2005. He had served on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources appointed by then governor James A. Rhodes and later was reappointed by Governor Richard Celeste. He was an owner and trainer of standard bred race horses and was a member of the Ohio Harness Horsemans Association receiving the Humanitarian Award in 2008.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1pm at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House from 10am Thursday until the time of the service.
