The Fayette County Sheriff received the Citizen's Service Award.
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth was recently honored with the Citizen's Service Award by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. Stanforth received the award at a luncheon held at the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy in London, Ohio. The sheriff was originally appointed to the commission in 2000 and was selected to serve as chairman in 2005 - a role he continues to fill.
During his tenure on the commission, the academy has been remodeled, bringing the facilities up-to-date with a firearms training facility and a driving track used by law enforcement agencies across the state. The commission has also implemented continuing professional training.
