Deadly Night on Area Roads

Thursday night proved deadly on area roadways with fatality crashes in Fayette and Pickaway counties.

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Fayette County, Thursday night. Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says 44-year-old Candace Lynch, of Washington CH, was traveling southeast on Old Route 35 at 10:08pm and failed to negotiate a curve. Lynch lost control, went off the road, over-corrected, and went left of center, colliding with an oncoming vehicle driven by 45-year-old Tony Nance, of Hillsboro. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and Lynch, who had to be extricated, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Nance was not injured.

Pickaway County Sheriff Dwight Radcliff says 51-year-old Pamela K. Rogers was killed when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on South Water Street in Williamsport, went off the road, hitting a guardrail and rolling over and striking a utility pole. Ms. Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:27pm crash. Passenger Richard E. Gunter was taken to Berger Hospital, then later flown to Grant Hospital in Columbus. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
