The State Treasurer of Ohio, Josh Mandel, took a tour of the USEC uranium enrichment facility in Piketon Thursday morning, and he says he was impressed with the work being done so far.

USEC is still awaiting a $2 billion dollar federal loan guarantee, which would allow them to push forward in developing the plant into a working uranium enrichment facility. USEC has promised the loan guarantee would create 4,000 jobs at the plant for Ohioans.

Mandel says the jobs are the most important issue, but that would not be the only positives of Ohio getting this Department of Energy loan.

A loan guarantee deadline for the Department of Energy has already been extended three times by USEC.
