Ten fires have displaced more than 25 people in the last week in the four-county region.
Because of the large number of recent home fires, the The American Red Cross of Scioto Valley is urging citizens to pay extra attention to fire prevention.
Within the last seven days, volunteers and staff have assisted those impacted by ten home fires in the four-county area, which includes Fayette, Madison, Pickaway and Ross Counties. While exact statistics aren’t immediately available, this represents an unusually high number of home fires in a short period of time.
Red Cross volunteers have helped more than 25 people, at least five of them children, during the recent rash of home fires in the four-county area. Nearly $5 thousand in financial assistance has been provided to those impacted, along with recovery kits, hygiene items, and hotel stays when necessary.
