Fayette detectives apprehend Charles Reeves
A 26-year-old Fayette County man has been arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Violation of a Civil Protection Order following an operation conducted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, his detectives received information regarding a subject attempting to unlawfully purchase a firearm. Through investigation, detectives learned that Charles A. Reeves of Washington C.H, a respondent on a Civil Protection Order, is restricted from purchasing or possessing a firearm according to the court order. A detective working in a covert capacity established contact with Reeves, affirming that Reeves was attempting to purchase a stolen firearm.
Sheriff’s detectives arranged to meet with Reeves to conduct the transaction with consent of the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office. Following an exchange of cash for the firearm, Reeves was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and subsequently, Violation of a Civil Protection Order. The arrest was without incident and the firearm was recovered by detectives in a controlled setting.
Reeves was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was incarcerated. Reeves appeared before the Washington Court House Municipal Court on Thursday, October 3, 2013 and was ordered held on a $30,000 bond after entering a not guilty plea.
