The Columbus Crossroads Project is complete
If you've tried to drive I-71 or 670 through Columbus, you know there's been a major rebuilding project at their interchange.
According to the highway department, the big “flyover” bridge, as it is known, is now open on the "I-71-670 Columbus Crossroads Project." It opened early Sunday morning...instead of the expected 5am Monday morning opening.
This is the longest bridge on the Crossroads project. It carries two lanes of 670 eastbound traffic out of downtown and up and over 71.
Since the big bridge opened early, drivers could test it out today [Sunday]...to make certain by the time Monday morning comes around, they have it all figured out.
The highway department says the closure of 670 east is only temporary to get drivers used to the new big bridge...but all the closures that were in place this weekend are all open.
