For the fifth consecutive year, the United Way of Fayette County was awarded a grant from the DHL Charitable Assistance Fund. This year the organization was awarded $18,000 and will again share the funds with other local organizations.
The grant, intended to assist organizations whose ongoing fundraising efforts have been negatively impacted by the changes at Wilmington Air Park and who have experienced increasing need for services, was part of a one million dollar donation DHL made to the Clinton County Foundation when the company ceased operations.
“We are pleased to again receive the DHL Charitable Assistance Grant and are proud to partner with other Fayette County organizations to put the money to use,“ said United Way director Whitney Gentry.
Monies will be split equally between The Well at Sunnyside, Fayette County Food Pantry, Department of Job & Family Services Housing Assistance, United Way and Job & Family Services Food Coupon Assistance program.
