An 8% increase was seen over the previous record
The 160th Ohio State Fair shattered the 12-day attendance record with an estimated 903,824 visitors. Spokesperson Alicia Shoults says they saw an 8 percent increase over the old record of 850,218 set in 2004.
Shoults says midway ride sales were up 17 percent while food and beverage sales saw a 10 percent boost over last year.
In addition to its record-setting attendance, the 2013 Ohio State Fair also saw a 10 percent increase in youth participation and records fall in the Sale of Champions. Overall that event generated $344,000, including $267,400 for the Youth Reserve Program.
