2% of Fayette County children living in poverty.
With 2% of Fayette County children living in poverty, back to school is an expensive time for families. To assist, Stuff the Bus, United Way’s annual school supply drive is underway for another year.
Residents are encouraged to drop off donated school supplies until August 9th at white collections bins placed at the following local businesses: Advantage Bank, Cargill Bloomingburg, Carnegie Library, Court House Chiropractic, Crop Production Services, Fifth Third Bank, Kroger, Merchant’s National Bank, US Bank, Walgreen’s, and Wal-Mart Supercenter.
United Way director Whitney Gentry says the annual drive normally collects around 4,000 items, “Volunteers will help sort and deliver them to local schools.”
Additionally, donors have contributed over $4,000 which will also be used to buy supplies.
