Thursday's appearance is the first after they were assigned attornies
(AP) A Richmond, Ky., couple charged in connection with the discovery of a child's body in southwest Ohio is due back in court in Hillsboro.
The preliminary hearing Thursday before Municipal Court Judge David McKenna will be the defendants' first court appearance since a judge appointed attorneys to represent them.
Twenty-six-year-old Whitney Johnson and 25-year-old Nathan Ritze are being held on $100,000 bonds on felony counts of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, following discovery of the body of year-old Garin Niehaus' in a wooded area near Hillsboro on May 31.
Police say Johnson told them the child had pneumonia. The boy is suspected to have died last December, when he was about 1 year old.
