Authorities say the child was located in a wooded area
The body of a missing child was located in a wooded area near Hillsboro Friday.
On May 30th, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a suspicious death of a one year old child and concern for welfare of two other children.
Upon investigation it was found that the children and their mother Whitney Johnson were living in Kentucky with Nathan Ritze.
When authorities from Kentucky visited the home the two children were located inside the residence. Ms. Johnson was located at her work place and Nathan Ritze was later apprehended.
Results of interviews led authorities to a Diven Road location where the Highland County Sheriff's office and BCI&I found the remains of a small child.
Whitney Johnson and Nathan Ritze are being held in Kentucky awaiting extradition on charges of Abuse of a Corpse a fifth degree felony and Tampering with Evidence a third degree felony.
The incident is still under investigation.
