The WCH Police Chief says one of the suspects claimed to have had a weapon.
Authorities in Washington Court House say they arrested 5 people for stealing from the Wal-Mart store, Thursday. According to Police Chief Brian Hottinger, the security alarm went off at 4:40am when the suspects left the store with stolen goods. One of the suspects claimed to be carrying a gun, so the store employee backed off as the suspects fled.
Hottinger says police later stopped the suspect vehicle on State Route 35 near Ford Road and recovered the stolen merchandise.
"One was a juvenile, who was transported to JDC, and the other four were adults (and) were incarcerated in the Fayette County Jail," he said.
Those arrested are from the Dayton area.
