Council will have to find ways to either bolster or cut police and fire numbers
Washington Council talked about the Tuesday election failure of three income tax levies, during their Wednesday meeting.
With the Police and Fire levies going down in defeat, City Manager Joe Dennen said the city had discussed options if the levies didn't pass, and that might mean police and fire operations getting smaller.
When asked about replacing police officers who have retired, recently retired, or are about to retire the city manager says they have not filled many of those positions due to tight finances.
A levy to operate the city pool was also shot down, meaning the likelihood there will be no swimming pool operation in the park this summer.
