Diann Tatum had been missing since 1988
The family of a Fayette County woman reported missing in October of 1988, finally have some closure as to the whereabouts of their daughter.
The Saint Claire County, Michigan Sheriff department has confirmed that DNA and dental records prove the skeletal remains of a body found in 1994, are that of Diann Tatum of U.S. Route 35 NW in Fayette County.
Tatum was reported missing October 25th, 1988 when she failed to appear at her parents Warren, Michigan home after she departed for the trip four day earlier.
In March of this year, genetic data from the Tatum family was entered into the Combined DNA Index System and an association between the samples was noted. A month later, a dental records comparison between Diann Tatum and the skeletal remains showed they were a match.
The case remains open as a homicide, with no word on suspects.
