Make sure you know what to do in case of severe thunderstorms or tornadoes
As we progress through the next few months, we have entered severe weather season.
Do you know the difference between a weather "watch" and a weather "warning"? A severe weather watch, be it thunderstorm or tornado, means conditions are favorable for the development of a severe thunderstorm or tornado.
Terry Fulton is with Fayette Emergency Management Agency urges residents to take heed when they hear tornado sirens during non test days and take cover. The warning sirens will continue to be activated until the warning is over. Fayette County tests all outdoors sirens and indoor weather monitoring systems on the 4th Friday of each month at noon.
Fulton says tests at the Malls are conducted on the same day at 8:30-8:45am. This includes a recently installed siren in the Buena Vista area.
