Both sides have their say on what happened
A group of teenagers claim their friend was denied service at a Chillicothe restaurant after refusing to take off a medical mask.
Emily Bales says she was at Los Mariachis earlier this week with 17-year-old cancer patient Sydney Hodge and two others. Bales says they were all wearing masks and that the waiter asked them if they were going to eat there and if they were going to remove the masks.
Restaurant owner Luis Cruz believes it was a misunderstanding between the two parties. He said his employee, who speaks broken English, said he tried to seat them twice but never ordered them to remove the masks. But despite this, he is sorry for the embarrassment the teen has gone through.
Earlier this month, Sydney's family reported that bracelets they had ordered as a fundraiser to help pay for her medical expenses had been stolen.
