Council heard one more plea from firefighters before contract talks
Talks involving budget cuts for Hillsboro, especially in their fire department, was the big discussion items in Hillsboro Council Monday night.
A member of the fire department's union spoke to council, as the city and union were set to enter into contract negotiations.
Mayor Drew Hastings believes the presentation from the fire department spokesperson was "a major scare tactic", when council was simply there to pass a budget.
The mayor added that other departments have agreed to compromises, and now the fire departments also need to make concessions.
