After redistricting changes, Gary Scherer hopes to win a seat in the 92nd district.
Republican Gary Scherer, who was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Ohio House of Representatives, is now seeking election to the House in the 92nd District. Scherer faces Democratic challenger Robert Armstrong.
Scherer was appointed to the Ohio House after Bob Peterson took a position in the Ohio Senate.
Scherer says that he and Armstrong have pledged to run a clean race but says he does differ from his opponent on some philosophical issues.
According to Scherer, Armstrong's background is rooted in education while his own comes from private industry and small business as well as growth and development.
Throughout his time in office, Scherer says he has found that most of his constituents are mostly in search of economic development. Scherer says that is something he has a lot of experience in. As a CPA, Scherer has advised small business owners on how to grow their business and provide more opportunities for their employees.
The best thing government can do to help foster economic development, according to Scherer, is to get out of the way. Scherer says its important look at existing regulations and see whether they help or hurt to the development process.
Scherer currently serves the 85th District but is running for a term in the 92nd due to redistricting changes.
