A number of people gathered in Ohio University-Chillicothe's Shoemaker Center, Thursday, to hear former U.S. President Bill Clinton talk about the upcoming election.

President Clinton, a Democrat, said the economy was severely damaged when President Obama took office: "I know that no one who ever served as President - not me, not Franklin Roosevelt, not anybody- could have repaired all the economic damage done in that terrible crash in four years."

Alvin Garber, of Chillicothe, said he's pleased with the job Obama has done and wants to see him get elected to another term.

"We know we have a debt crisis, a national debt, but we also have an economy that's moving and moving in the right direction,"  Garber said.

Clinton said the biggest distinction between the candidates is their position on Medicare and Medicaid.

"Governor Romney has ridden a white horse, saying he is rescuing the seniors of America from President Obama [who is] robbing Medicare of $716 billion," he said.

"Highly inconvenient for him, Congressman Ryan has exactly the same budget for Medicare for the next ten years that President Obama does."

Marc Hill works at the Piketon A-plant said job creation is the most important issue to him in this election: "We need jobs, and they need to stop talking about them and make them happen."

Citing independent analysis, former President Clinton said jobs can be created under President Obama's policies.

"America is coming back; those 12 million jobs are just the beginning; there is no limit to what we can achieve," Clinton said, "but we have to do it together, and I want Barack Obama to lead the way."
