Authorities say merchandise was stolen from Pettit's Grocery, early Tuesday.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning break-in at a local business. Pettit’s Grocery, located at 58 Main Street, in Bloomingburg, was forcibly entered and merchandise was taken from the business sometime before 3:45 a.m., Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, deputies responded after being alerted to glass breakage on the front doors of the business. Upon arriving, deputies entered the business through the broken door glass and checked the interior for anyone still inside the store. Pettit’s management was contacted and responded to the business, assisting deputies with inventory of merchandise taken from the business.
Sheriff’s detectives and a crime scene agent from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification also responded, processing the scene for possible evidence left behind.
Authorities say video surveillance captured two suspects breaking the door glass, entering the business and removing cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, and other items of merchandise before departing in a full sized white pick-up truck.
