Remains at 7.2%

(AP)  The state is set to release its monthly job figures this morning for Ohio.

The figures include statewide labor force data for August and the unemployment rate, which has remained at 7.2 percent for two consecutive months.

The jobless rate was steady in July after 11 consecutive months of decreases. But it's still at the lowest level since 2008 and more than one point below the national unemployment rate.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says there were 413,000 unemployed workers across the state last month, down from 418,000 in July.

Service-providing industries lost 4200 workers. Job losses also occured in trade, transportation, and utilities and educational and health services. The leisure and hospitality sectors registered the biggest gains, with 3500 more jobs.

The August unemployment rate for Ohio was down from 8.8 percent in August 2011.

The U.S. unemployment rate for August was 8.1 percent, down from 8.3 percent in July, and down from 9.1 percent in August 2011.
