A case of viral meningitis has been confirmed in a Wilmington High School student. The ninth-grade boy is recovering at home according to Wilmington school officials.

The district sent a letter to high school parents informing them of the situation and requesting parents "keep a close on their children to see whether they show certain symptoms," in case their child was in contact with the boy. The Clinton County Health Department was also notified.

The health department says
the diagnosis is for viral meningitis, not bacterial.
