Suspect Shot During Domestic Situation

An officer was able to get a shot off before the suspect fled.

A suspect is in custody in Highland County after a domestic call in Lynchburg turned ugly Thursday evening.

Lynchburg Police Officers were called to a Grandview Avenue residence sometime around 10 p.m.

On arrival, an unnamed suspect attempted to run over one the responding officers who managed to draw and fire his side arm in self defense.

The suspect was able to flee the scene but was apprehended on Townsend Road in Clinton County a short time later.

The suspect did suffer a gunshot wound and was taken to Clinton Memorial Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Charges in the case are pending.
