A Gahanna Lincoln HS student has been charged
A 16-year old junior at Gahanna-Lincoln High School was arrested Monday and charged with inducing panic.
Spencer Pearson is accused of sending inappropriate messages via Twitter to other Gahanna-Lincoln students on Friday. After Gahanna-Lincoln principal Dwight Carter contacted Twitter, the account was shut down.
Early Saturday morning, a YouTube video surfaced with the image of a man in a mask from the movie "V for Vendetta". A computer-generated or altered voice says "Hello GLHS. I am not here to physically harm anyone here in GLHS or the school itself. I am not as stupid as you think. I just wanted to let you all know how you live your lives is dangerous and wrong and you have grown weak-minded and pathetic. These are a few mistakes you make every day. Next time we meet I will have something more interesting to show you all. Have a great day."
By Sunday, Gahanna police had enough information to develop an address and a suspect. Monday morning, they searched Pearson's home, seized a computer and computer equipment and arrested the teen.
Bomb experts are planning to sweep the school Tuesday morning. The superintendent says everything has been done to make sure students and staff are safe.
Police and school officials alike credit students and parents for promptly reporting the online messages.`
