The accident happened Monday night in Greenfield

Greenfield Police say a 17-year-old male was behind the wheel of this 1997 Honda when he lost control in front of Trinity Church on North Washington Street in Greenfield, at approximately 9:15pm on Monday evening.

The car went off the road and slid sideways into a utility pole, snapping the pole in half. According to officers on scene, speed and wet roads appear to be a factor in the crash.

Officers say the teenager was awake and talking immediately after the crash and was pulled to safety by a passerby who noticed the car and saw what appeared to be smoke coming from it.

EMS and fire personnel from Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire were on the scene and transported the lone victim to the landing zone behind the squad building.
