Official are asking residents to voluntarily conserve water.
With the hotter than normal and below normal precipitation, the Highland County Water Company is asking its customers to conserve water. Some suggested measures include: not watering lawns, using a broom instead of water hose to clean sidewalks, not letting the water run to continually run while brushing teeth or shaving, and keeping a chilled bottle of water in a refrigerator instead of running tap water until it's cool.
Water department officials hope this can lead to a 15 percent reduction.
