Cooling Centers up and Running

The Highland County Emergency Management Agency is offering advice for people needing daytime relief from extreme heat stress, due to electrical outages in their homes.

several locations throughout the county will be hosting a "cooling shelter" during the daytime hours and providing bottled water.

*Greenfield Baptist Church- 250 Lafayette Street
*Lynchburg Fire/EMS- State Route 135 south of the village
*Highland Co Joint North Fire District- 200 South Street Leesburg
*1st Presbyterian Church- 201 East Main Street Hillsboro
*Paint Creek Fire/EMS District 640 North Washington Street Greenfield

If handling issues of debris clean-up, do not burn anything during this time of heat stress. Simply move materials out of the way for the time being.

Residents who are still with out power are encouraged to call 211 for information on the closest cooling center and where they can find food.
