Area fire officials caution against outside burning at this time.

Firefighters are concerned as the dry weather increases the potential of field fires: "Like, right now, if you pitched a cigarette outside, there's a good possibility you could catch the grass on fire," said Tom Youtz, acting fire chief out of Washington Court House.

As precaution, he said, anything lit should be properly extinguished and disposed of properly.

In fact, Union Township residents are not permitted to burn anything at this time, Youtz said.

Earlier this week, around a hundred acres caught fire as a blaze in Madison Township spread into the upper portion of Fayette County.
